PCI, Inc. has consistently demonstrated its commitment to innovative sustainability across its processes, practices, and facilities. In a significant stride towards this commitment, the company is set to launch its highly anticipated product line of sustainably sourced containers in early 2024. This addition to the PCI product lineup is designed to be manufactured using 30% or more reclaimed ocean-bound plastic culled from rivers and streams nationwide.
The global estimate for plastic waste in the world’s oceans is staggering, reaching 11 million metric tons per year.* By diverting ocean-bound plastic into its manufacturing process, PCI aims to contribute to the reduction of this vast environmental hazard.
Walter Tyson, Chairman and CEO of PCI, emphasizes the urgency of these efforts, stating, “With the overwhelming amount of plastic in our seas, upcycling isn’t just a luxury—it’s becoming a necessity. Today’s advanced valorization and filtration methods enable us to transform this waste into exceptionally pure polymers of extraordinary quality.”
PCI’s sustainable products are made from an innovative blend of refined ocean-bound plastic and virgin substrate, resulting in tough, durable pails and cartridges suitable for diverse industries, including automotive, industrial, construction, food processing, and pharmaceuticals.
Tyson notes, “PCI occupies a crucial position in the container spectrum. It offers an optimized solution for companies looking to embrace sustainable practices without resorting to costly alternatives to polyethylene pails. Moreover, like all our containers, each unit in the PCI line is fully recyclable.”
PCI will maintain the production of its current container lines, complemented by the Ocean Bound series, providing a variety of sizes, customizable lids, and printing options.
