With warm and heavy hearts, PCI bids farewell to Gene Hannegan, original founder of Polyethylene Products, now recognized as Polyethylene Containers, Inc. Gene passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, including President, David Hannegan. Gene was more than just an entrepreneur – he was the driving force behind the inception of Polyethylene Products manufacturing facility opened in 1981, focusing on the production of polyethylene pipe. With the pipe division divested in 1995 to focus on the manufacturing of drums and pails, Gene and his team were able to establish meaningful partnerships across the industry that would assist in the incorporation of PCI’s Vision today, “to be the world’s most customer-focused container company.”
PCI extends its deepest condolences to the Hannegan family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. We recognize the profound impact Gene has not only on our organization but on all that had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.
In honor of Gene’s legacy, PCI remains committed to upholding the vision originally instilled within our organization. We will continue to innovate and pursue our commitment to thoughtful, carefully planned expansion while continuously improving the speed and agility of our production and distribution lines, all with our customers’ needs at the forefront of our continued enhancements. Additionally, and with great pride, we dedicate the Legacy Office Building to his name, now being referred to as the “G. Hannegan Office.”
Visitation will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Bailey Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM. A link to the obituary can be found here.
